Tibi Spring 2010

Designer Amy Smilovic debuted her Spring 2010 collection for Tibi at the tents and sent her models strutting down the runway to the all-time classic tune “Sweet Child of Mine”; and the line was indeed just that: sweet, youthful and of course, unforgettable.

Showcasing 36 looks, Smilovic infused the line with airy, easy-flowing silhouettes in a light, pastel color palette for a truly ethereal collection. Overarching ideas included bias cut dresses, floral splashes and watercolor imagery in contrasting pop colors, high waists and high hemlines, and of course, one of the season’s most popular trends, the exaggerated, defined shoulder. Each look was accessorized with minimalistic, strappy nude or electric blue sandals and no jewelry to keep the emphasis on the clothes.

The entire collection was beautifully, tastefully done and it is difficult to pick a single favorite look; however, my favorites did include a lavender silk cami paired with a 3-D ruffled violet skirt, the silk ¾ sleeve jackets, which were the perfect piece to pull together any of the outfits, and a black and white graphic-printed sheath with exaggerated sleeve (a little reminiscent of a dress Marc Jacobs did a couple seasons back..)

All in all, it was a great show of clean, feminine looks that Tibi has become known for throughout the years, and come spring of next year, it will send us running to the stores for those sherbet minis and sexy, silky gowns.
