On October 8th, after spending all day at New York Comic Con, I got to end my day with MAKE UP FOR EVER's Glam to Ghoul event at the MAKE UP FOR EVER boutique at 8 East 12th Street between 5th Avenue & University Place.
MAKE UP FOR EVER is the go-to destination for Halloween makeup. The pro makeup team walked me through the unique Halloween services that the amazing MAKE UP FOR EVER Boutiques have to offer, from classic glam to ghoul looks. You can either pick up the makeup you need to create your look or book an appointment for a full face character transformation for $60 (45-60 minutes), face, neck, arms and light effects for $100 (60-90 minutes) or go for a full face & body effects application for $150 (90-120 minutes).
I was amazed at how quickly the pro team can work their magic! Nick Lujan quickly walked me through how to apply a bloody gash in a matter of minutes! It looked so real I was getting alarming looks on the street as I made my way to my next event.
To create a wound on the skin, you'll want to use Spirit Gum, Plasto Wax, Artist Shadow, Aqua Black, Rouge Artist Intense in a deep red, and Coagulated Artificial Blood. Just be careful because the drying process takes awhile. By the time I got to my next event 20 minutes later, the Coagulated Artificial Blood had continued to drip out of my wound, which made it look even more real! When I got home I used olive oil to easily clean the wound off my skin.
I also learned about the newest launch LASH SHOW, which comes in 4 styles: Natural Volume, Dramatic Volume, Winged for cat-eye style, and Artistic, for elaborate looks and show-stopping lashes. The Lash Show line of 50 handmade, false lash styles are made of top-quality, 100% synthetic fibers for lightweight, all day wear and maximum comfort. A flexible, resilient band easily adapts perfectly to any eye shape with total control precision. Each hygienic Lash Show set contains MAKE UP FOREVER's gentle latex-free adhesive with a unique, easy-to-apply eyeliner tip.
