The Metropolitan Suite Opening Reception

On April 5th I attended the opening reception of The Metropolitan Suite, located at 123 West 18th Street, 2nd Floor.

Sterling Affair and Thomas Preti Events to Savor served up delectable tasting plates served with organic ingredients from nearby farms.

My favorite dishes were the Fresh Chanterelle and Spring Mushroom Ragout with Sweet Pea Risotto, Pork~n~Beans Barbecued Pork Belly on smoky Black and White Chic Peas and the "Cowboy Style" rubbed Ribeye with Corn and roasted Succotash.

I couldn't help but indulge in the delicious organic all chocolate dessert bar, featuring chocolate pots de creme with chocolate smoke, assorted hand crafted chocolate truffles & macaroons, chocolate, baileys and mint shooters and marshmallow pops.

The Metropolitan Suite now features retrofitted design elements such as the only venue with sustainably harvested dark wood floors, paired with high ceilings to create a dramatic effect.

Scharff Weisberg Lighting showcased their new line of energy efficient LED lights.

It was an incredibly fun night of amazing food, drinks and music. I look forward to future events at The Metropolitan Suite!

LeSportsac's New Artist in Residence - Jeremyville for Spring/Summer 2011

LeSportsac welcomes Jeremyville as the new Artist in Residence for Spring/Summer 2011. The theme created for LeSportsac is titled "Inspirations". There are three themes in the collection:

  • Jeremyville NYC, including street names, iconic architecture and signage, with particular inspiration from The Lower East Side.

  • Bondi Beach Sketchbook, which is based on scenes from Bondi Beach, where Jeremyville grew up as a kid.

  • Tomorrow Forest, an imaginary world taken from jeremyville's sketchbooks, populated with furry creatures, engmatic bird people and smiling mushroom creatures.

My favorite character is the Magic Bunny, the furry muse of Jeremyville and mascot of the "Inspirations" theme. Within the Jeremyville collection you'll find cosmetic bags, snack sacs, totes, hobos, crossbody bags, backpacks, duffles and messenger bags, but my favorites include the two pieces that focus on the Magic Bunny - Bunny Tote, $98 and Bunny Pouch, $15.

Rolando Santana Fall 2011

The Rolando Santana Fall 2011 collection has made quite an impression on me. I had missed the show during Fashion Week, but I did get a chance to visit the showroom last month. Rolando Santana's Fall collection has an urban sophistication feel, with a focus on feminine cocktail dresses that just look effortless.

I am in awe over the use of leather (incredibly soft), fur, chiffon and feathers as well as ruffle detailing and draping on wool jersey. I also think that the open back on the sequin pieces are sexy and elegant. Some of my favorite pieces include black cocktail dresses, but to me there is nothing more wearable than a black cocktail dress. There are also a few pieces that you can dress up or down, including the feather jacket and fur vest.

I also had to point out these gorgeous statement pieces that were in the showroom. What a work of art!

Here are some of my favorite looks from Rolando Santana's Fall 2011 Show. You can also watch the video here from rolandosantana.com.
