Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 2014 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 2014 is inspired by Carmen's recent trip to Istanbul, influenced by minarets, mosaic detailing and metal armor. The opulence of the Ottoman Empire is reflected in metal-work and mosaics adorning bodices and beaded breastplates, creating armor-like protection. Some of the looks show a hint of seduction, with a flash of skin through layers of metallic lace.

My favorite looks and details from the runway include beaded and gunmetal tunics paired with leather pants, mink vests and scarves, riding coats and gorgeous gowns like the mosaic metal embroidered double face gown and rose gold leather mosaic appliqué gown. Metallics, mosaics, lace and leather were strong in a burnished gold, persimmon, oxblood and black palette.

The Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 2014 footwear collection featured three new styles on the runway - the 'Aurora' open toe sandal with metal hardware detailing in oxblood, black and copper leathers, 'Porcia' open toe black bootie with metal ornaments and 'Seda' a t-strap platform in gunmetal and black.

The show featured hair by Ted Gibson, makeup by Romero Jennings for MAC and manicures by Danielle Candido for Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer.
