Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 2014 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 2014 is inspired by Carmen's recent trip to Istanbul, influenced by minarets, mosaic detailing and metal armor. The opulence of the Ottoman Empire is reflected in metal-work and mosaics adorning bodices and beaded breastplates, creating armor-like protection. Some of the looks show a hint of seduction, with a flash of skin through layers of metallic lace.

My favorite looks and details from the runway include beaded and gunmetal tunics paired with leather pants, mink vests and scarves, riding coats and gorgeous gowns like the mosaic metal embroidered double face gown and rose gold leather mosaic appliqué gown. Metallics, mosaics, lace and leather were strong in a burnished gold, persimmon, oxblood and black palette.

The Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 2014 footwear collection featured three new styles on the runway - the 'Aurora' open toe sandal with metal hardware detailing in oxblood, black and copper leathers, 'Porcia' open toe black bootie with metal ornaments and 'Seda' a t-strap platform in gunmetal and black.

The show featured hair by Ted Gibson, makeup by Romero Jennings for MAC and manicures by Danielle Candido for Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer.

Carmen Marc Valvo Spring 2014 at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

Carmen Marc Valvo Spring 2014 creates the illusion of computer graphics through tribal patterns in a monochromatic palette. Athletic mesh and black leather detailed with elaborate embroideries create a hard-edge sophistication. My favorite look lends a pop of color to the collection - a flamingo double face scuba stripe and leather color blocked cocktail dress, for a sleek and sporty look.

Footwear styles from Carmen Marc Valvo Calzature include LORI, a black sandal bootie with hexagon detailing and SYDNEY, an elegant, studded strappy sandal. Both styles incorporate key elements of the collection, including unique leathers, geometric shapes and beadwork.

Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 2013

Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 2013 introduces a punk baroque theme, through a dark yet elegant palette of grape, merlot, cassis, and black and ivory. The collection features perfectly tailored evening separates and gowns in leather and lace. Details include sequin, baroque and tile embroidery on leather as well as alligator and corsetry detailing. Looks graced the runway in sparkle tweeds, sheared mink, silk and moire taffetas, wool and sequined and embroidered tulle. My favorite pieces are the cassis feathered fox coat and chinchilla vest.

Launching in Fall 2013 and making its runway debut is the Carmen Marc Valvo Calzature footwear collection, in partnership with H.H. Brown Shoe Company. Three of the featured footwear styles on the runway include: BETH, a suede ankle boot accented with sleek mesh and a bow; ELSIE, a modern patent leather Mary Jane with a double strap and pointed closure; and MARA, a pointed double wrap ankle strap pump.
