Village Voice's Choice Streets 2012

On April 24th, I attended the 1st annual Village Voice's Choice Eats Food Truck Tasting Event on Pier 86 of the Intrepid, Sea, Air & Space Museum Complex.

Unfortunately I didn't arrive until the last half hour, so several of the food trucks I had been anticipating were already closed for the night. I missed out on Wafels & Dinges, who had been serving up authentic Belgian style wafels and mini wafelinis, Korilla BBQ and NYC Healthy Bites, featuring my favorite, the diablo dog, topped with diced tomatoes, onions, shredded cheese and spicy cilantro sauce. Their organic beef, chicken and vegan sausage dogs are so addictive!

Here's a look at some of the food trucks I did get to sample, including Solber Pupusas, Mexico Blvd, Green Pirate Juice Truck and Coolhaus.

The best way to end the night was definitely with Coolhaus ice cream sandwiches. First you choose your cookie and then you choose your ice cream. I went with a Coconut Almond cookie with Gingerbread ice cream - absolutely amazing! I am going to have to track Coolhaus down, using my app, which shows you real-time map locations of food trucks in NYC.
