Update: I went to the sale on 12/28, and when I got there, there wasn't much Dr. Jart+ left. I washoping to pick up some of the Dermasks but they were all gone. The only Dr. Jart+ products that were left were Dis-APore BB, Illuminating BB Brush and Air Mesh. Stila was picked over as well. All I ended up getting was the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Paradiso for $8 and the Fringe With Benefits duo of the Star Light, Star Lash Glitter Top Coat & HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara for $8.

Backstage at Nicholas K Spring/Summer 2017 at NYFW

I kicked off the Spring/Summer 2017 New York Fashion Week seasons backstage at Nicholas K at Skylight at Moynihan Station. Giannandrea for Macadamia Professional, Sarah Lucero for Stila Cosmetics, and Miss Pop for NCLA took me through hair, makeup and nail looks for the show. 

Giannandrea created the horsetail for the show, applying extensions and creating a high ponytail. For Stila Cosmetics, Sarah created the Silver Mirage look with a silver metallic cat eye using Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in Titanium and a neutral lip with Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Biscotti. Stay All Day Foundation, Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Damsel, HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara, Stay All Day Bronzer, and Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Color. Miss Pop put together a nail look of geological formations. Check out my interview below with all three of them.

I also discovered Chuda Healing Hydrating Cream by Dr. Elena Ocher, being used to prep the models. This multi-purpose cream can be used as a primer or moisturizer, and deeply hydrates and rapidly heals dry and damaged skin.

Here are steps to create the horsetail:

1. Start with wet hair and apply Macadamia Professional Blow Dry Lotion throughout the lengths to smooth and protect hair from heat styling. Blow-dry large sections straight with a large round brush. 

2. Brush all the hair upward to the top center of the crown. All the sides and back of the hair must direct very tightly to the top center.

3. Pull hair into a ponytail, smoothing all sides as needed and secure with a stronh hair elastic. 

4. Take a medium sized section from the back bottom of the ponytail. Wrap the section around the base of the elastic and spray Macadamia Professional Flex Hold Shaping Hairspray  to help the hair stay in place. Create a tall, 3-inch thick band that covers the elastic. Use straight pins all around while wrapping and smoothing it in place.

5. Lightly spray the top of the head with Macadamia Professional Flex Hold Shaping Hairspray and gently run hands over the hair to smooth flyaways.

6. Brush the ponytail and spray Macadamia Professional Weightless Moisture Dry Oil Micro Mist to achieve the ultimate finish and shine for a glamorous look.

Backstage at Banana Republic Fall/Winter 2016 at New York Fashion Week

Backstage at Banana Republic Fall/Winter 2016, Sarah Lucero for stila Cosmetics created the Camille - a twist on a French cat eye, feathery lashes, and two different lips - a red lip and a blushy lip for a sophisticated, sexy and super feminine look. 

The nail look was created by Priti NYC, applying geranium-scented soy cuticle oil, Dancing Queen from the Spring 2016 collection, Priti Loves Matte top coat followed by the 2 in 1 top coat.

Hair looks were created by Lead Stylist Brian Buenaventura for Cutler/Redken Salons.

Hair Step-by-Step: Women

Look 1: 

1. Prep the hair with Redken Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam and blow dry section by section, giving the hair volume and texture.

2. Give the hair a left side part.

3. Take a 1 1/4" curling iron and create an "S wave" by angling the iron vertically as you curl. Repeat throughout the hair.

4. Finish by placing hair forward on the right side, leaving loose pieces in front to give it an easy, effortless feel.

5. Complete the look with Redken Quick Dry 18 Instant Finishing Spray.

Look 2: 

1. Prep the hair with Redken Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam and blow dry section by section, giving the hair volume and texture. 

2. Give the hair a perfect middle part, leaving loose hairs in front.

3. Gather the rest of the hair into a low ponytail.

4. Take a 6 inch black elastic cord and secure onto the hair. Allow the ends of the two elastic strands to fall and blend into the ponytail.

Hair Step-by Step: Men

1. Prep the hair with Redken Fashion Waves 07 Texturizing Sea Spray

2. Take your diffuser and blow dry the hair, creating natural wave and texture

3. Complete the look with Redken Quick Dry 18 Instant Finishing Spray
