Check Out the Icebreaker Touchlab Soho Store

Back on December 1st, 2010 I attended the launch of the Icebreaker Touchlab Soho store at 102 Wooster St, between Spring and Prince Streets.

Icebreaker is a New Zealand based outdoor apparel company specializing in merino wool fabrics, with layering products including underwear, tops, bottoms, outerwear and accessories.

During the VIP/media launch event, guests were able to choose their own Icebreaker garment to take home. I chose the Icebreaker_GT260 Rapid Zip, $169.99. This zip up has a slim, active fit with the XS being true to size. The breathable midweight fabric keeps me warm, especially in windy, cold weather. This would be suitable for mountain biking, trail running or alpine sports, but also works if you are just running around the city like me when it's 20 degrees out.

I think it's interesting how you can enter your "Icebreaker Baacode” located on the clothing tag. When you enter the unique Baacode online at icebreaker.com, you can trace your garment to the rearing of the sheep that produced the merino fibre in your garment through to each stage of the supply chain process.

The Perfect Body Lotion for Winter - Votre Vu's TARTE D'AMANDE Soufflé Riche Pour Le Corps

TARTE D'AMANDE Soufflé Riche Pour Le Corps ($39) by Votre Vu is my body lotion of choice for the winter months, with the sweet smell of Almond Pie! It really absorbs into your skin and keeps your body moisturized without feeling thick or greasy. Vitamins and nut oils hydrate your skin, leaving it soft and silky.
What's your favorite winter lotion?

Shoe-Inn Sale

If you missed the Shoe-Inn Sample Sale at Gotham Hall, don't worry - the sale continues on at Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom on January 18th, 19th and 20th! During my lunch I headed over to Gotham Hall for the last day of the sale. For joining the mailing list, you received $5 off, in addition to 20% off shoes, 10% off boots and 10% off accessories.

Last year, I noted that the Hammerstein Ballroom Shoe-Inn started off at lower price points so I am anticipating that this time around as well. The Roberto Del Carlo boots I saw today for$199 were the exact same pair I bought at Hammerstein Ballroom for $99 last January. Same with the Paola Ferri boots I saw today for $129.99 that I got 2 years ago, for I think $55. There were tons of cute shoes I loved - including Gastone Lucioli and Stuart Weitzman, but none in my size. There were actually no shoes in my size (5). The had some boots in size 5, but no shoes.

I managed to snag a pair of Micheal Kors High Heel Sandals for $35! I really wanted these in black. Maybe I'll find them at the upcoming Shoe-Inn!

Also just a few tips: If you are looking for kids Uggs, go the very first day while they are still stocked! The Uggs do not get marked down so get them early! Shoppers are brutal! Hold onto your shoes and prepare for a lot of pushing and shoving!

The Liberty Warehouse Event Space

Image courtesy of The Liberty Warehouse

On December 15th, I attended an amazing sneak preview of
The Liberty Warehouse event space at 175 Van Dyke Street, Brooklyn.

The
Liberty Warehouse is located on Pier 41 in the historic shipping yards of Red Hook, Brooklyn. The building was constructed in the pre-Civil War 1850's and has a 3000 square foot outdoor patio with panoramic views of the New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty.

The Water Taxi at South Street Seaport provided transportation while serving us champagne! We then had a short bus ride (less than five minutes) to get us to the event space.

It was a fun festive evening of music, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

I don't even eat lamb but the lamb shanks were phenomenal and so was the duck! It just melted in your mouth like butter! Unfortunately I made it there just in time for one serving. I wish I had a chance to taste more!

The Buzzito Bar bar served up some great chicken quesadillas!

I enjoyed my plate of figs, olives, cheese, fruit and pomegranate seeds!

I loved the smoked salmon pancakes!

The chocolate was delectable, especially the caramel-filled ones!
Here are some more images of the event space, courtesy of The Liberty Warehouse.

Up to 600 guests can be accommodated for a sit-down dinner and 1000+ guests for cocktails

I wish I didn't miss the dessert and champagne cruise at the end of the night! I absolutely loved the food, views and the fireplaces! I would recommend this event space for any occasion, whether it be a wedding, company event or private party. You can learn more about the venue at thelibertywarehouse.com.
