Daniella Kallmeyer Fall 2012

Lady-like gray pleats and nods to demure Hollywood-glam silhouettes licked the 90’s rave kid lollipop at Daniella Kallmeyer’s F/W ’12 presentation.

Kallmeyer reinvented classic black and gray skirts by pairing them with black vinyl and pops of midnight navy and neon violet. Tangerine turtlenecks and pleather collars brought an edge to tame, tucked in button-downs and white sweaters.

Black on black in fur, vinyl, and shiny patent leather added an androgynous layer to the collection that Kallmeyer described as being “very inspired by raver culture and ‘90s TV shows.” The textures and bright colors emulating peacock feathers added dimension to the demure cuts, living up to the collection’s "Grandma's at a Rave" title.

I might be alone on this... but, as a child of the ‘90s, this collection fulfilled a sort of dream of mine. The boyish pieces that still seamlessly evoked femininity when paired with tie-dyed purple, green, and orange reminded me of one very memorable character from ‘90s TV. The straight blue leggings with green polka dots paired with a prim purple dress… Angelica from “Rugrats.” Kallmeyer’s collection would have been Angelica’s dream closet – and really, Angelica would have been a whole lot cooler with a black vinyl backpack with fur straps.

The Daily Style Sessions - New York Fashion Week Fall 2012

The Daily Style Sessions at The Empire Hotel was one of the hotspots to hit up during New York Fashion Week Fall 2012. Attendees stopped by in between shows to have a quick cocktail, indulge in some beauty treatments and check out some of the showcased brands.

Stella & Dot previewed the latest jewelry from their spring collection, including necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings. The jewelry is super chic and affordable, with necklaces ranging from $39-$248. The statement necklaces are my favorite pieces, including the Pegasus Necklace (bottom left, $198) and the Sierra Necklace (bottom right, $148). The assortment offers a variety of styles, from multi-strand necklaces to ones that are perfect layering pieces.

Check out the Amalfi collection, which includes shades of the mediterranean with a mid-century Italian flare and find eclectic, everyday pieces in the Urban Splendor collection. You can shop Stella & Dot at stelladot.com.

This was the first time I had been introduced to Cindy Crawford's Meaningful Beauty anti-aging products, which she co-created with Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh. The complete system is available at meaningfulbeauty.com and includes a skin softening cleanser, antioxidant day creme, anti-aging night creme, lifting eye creme and firming chest & neck creme, along with a deep cleaning masque, glowing serum and wrinkle smoothing capsules.

Fit In Fashion Lounge Tailored by amNEWYORK

The Fit in Fashion Lounge Tailored by amNEWYORK was held all throughout New York Fashion Week, at The Empire Hotel storefront. I met with some great brands as they introduced their products.

CeCe Toppings offers a collection of stay-put collars without worrying about the fit of a shirt or bulkiness when layering over it. I'm constantly worrying about the fit at the shoulders or how long the arms and there are definitely no worries if you're wearing one of Jamie Turquie's creations. Since I do love tie-neck blouses, the Ruffled Collars collection is my favorite, including stripes, polka dots, checks and plaids ($39-$44). I also love the lace ruffle ($85) and gold ruffle ($85) collars from the CeCe Collection.

Chaise23 was demonstrating how to use the Reinvention Chair to get your cardio workout, while improving your flexibility and balance (bottom left).

Then I met Youareonthelist.com Founder and CEO, Robin Ross (bottom right). Youareonthelist.com is a members-only site with access to exclusive events.

Slap Watch has interchangeable faces to mix and match, and even comes in smaller, SLAP Jr., for people like me who have petite wrists.

eyeSlices are innovative eye treatment pads, with key ingredient Aloe Ferrox. All you do is place the soothing and cooling eye gels over your closed eyes for 5 minutes to quickly rejuvenate tired, puffy eyes and reduce red eyes and dark circles. The eye slices can be re-used up to 10 times.

Sobe Seamles Tape Hair Extensions introduced quick and easy no heat tape applications in a variety of colors. Sobe hair extensions have the highest quality triple AAA grade Indo-European Temple hair in a variety of textures including beach waves, French wave, brazilian and yaki. I had them apply a red tape extension to my hair, which blended in naturally. I loved it - I can totally get used to these tape hair extensions!

GOODNESS Lounge at New York Fashion Week Fall 2012

During New York Fashion Week Fall 2012, the GOODNESS Lounge by Renaissance Hotels at Museum of Arts and Design was one of my favorite stopovers between shows. The lounge was designed by Niki Cheng, owner of BoConcept New York, with makeup touch-ups by Lancôme and massages by Equinox and complimentary nail polish changes. CIRCA also showcased their collection of recycled, sustainable luxury jewelry.

I spoke with supermodel/environmentalist Elettra Wiedemann about GOODNESS, the full service pop-up restaurant hosted during New York Fashion Week, providing fresh, healthy and delicious food. A different prominent NYC-based chef was featured each day, with a unique menu only available at GOODNESS, located at ROBERT, on the 9th floor of MUSEUM of Arts and Design. This season GOODNESS earned the CFDA's Health Initiative Stamp of Approval.

Tarek Abbas, National Make-Up Artist for Lancôme gave me a flawless, natural-looking makeup touch-up and walked me through this season's hottest new products and shades, and briefly went over some of the specific products he used on my face.

Wiedemann also partnered with Talenthouse and DJ Zen Freeman to choose a winning resident DJ Travisty to provide a soothing soundtrack of lounge music and modern remixes at the GOODNESS Lounge

Here's a look at ROBERT, and featured chefs during fashion week:
- Mario Batali of Babbo - February 11th
- Leo Forneas of ROBERT - February 12th
- Alain Allegretti of La Promenade des Anglais, February 13th
- Julian Medina of Toloache, February 14th

GANT by Michael Bastian Fall 2012

GANT by Michael Bastian Fall 2012, titled "The Lucky Ones", is based on Bastian's memories and experiences of living in Boston while in college there. The collection is a youthful mix of classic preppy, sports utility and fashion influences inspired by MOD revival.

Bastian combines the idea of luck and the concept of "today is my lucky day" with a belief in certain objects possessing a good energy.

In the spirit of luck, there's a special coin on every hangtag on every piece of clothing in the collection that you can save, put in your pocket or add to your key ring.

The women's collection includes a gray University Blazer, tartan tuxedo bib, solid and striped shirts, skinny jeans and skinny patent belts. My favorite looks from the GANT by Michael Bastian Fall 2012 presentation are the tweed boxy double breasted blazer with tweed wrap skirt and horizontal stitch turtleneck, the fairisle shetland sweater, round collar white Sam shirt with pencil skirt and skinny belt and the Donegal blazer, Marinario turtleneck, Donegal chino skirt with patent belt and vertical stripe tights.

The checked double breasted blazer, cord blazer, pincord patchwork blazer, solid oxford shirts, plaid flannels and striped and checked poplin top my men's favorites list.
