SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker NYC Pop-Up

The SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker Pop-Up Shop at 6 West 52nd Street opened on Black Friday and was only going to be open through December 3rd, but has been extended, through December 15th! Phone cases, candles, fragrances, clutches and bags are also available. 

I made it to the pop-up during the first weekend in December, and I'm so glad I did since I never tried a pair of SJP shoes on until now! I fell in love with all the sparkly shoes, quality and details. I tried on several pairs, and the size 35 really fit true to size, and they are pretty comfortable, especially since there are a variety of heel heights and styles.

Sarah Jessica Parker launched the SJP footwear line in 2014 with Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus. All the shoes are made in Italy and are available at Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. There's one notable difference though. The stores don't carry a size 35 - the availability starts at a 35.5, so if you happen to be a size 35, I suggest you drop by the pop-up!

Kickoff the New Year with STASH by Sarah Jessica Parker

I'm kicking off the new year with a fragrance I've been excited about ever since I was introduced to it at a holiday preview a few months ago. Sarah Jessica Parker's latest fragrance, Stash, is both sexy and mysterious.

The aromatic woody fragrance has top notes of grapefruit zest, black pepper and sage, a heart of cedarwood atlas, patchouli, ginger lily, and pistachio, and a base of olibanum, massoia wood, vetiver and musk. 

I usually prefer light, fruity scents, but the winter season is when I am drawn to more masculine, unisex scents. The more I have Stash on, the more the scent grows on me. It's warm and inviting, and the perfect evening scent. I usually wear fragrances when I go out, but this is one I would actually wear at home. Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely is still my signature fragrance, but I'm happy to change it up this season and enjoy my new Stash.

Valentine's Day Fragrance Pick: Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker 10th Anniversary Edition

Still one of my favorite fragrances to date is Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker, which celebrated its 10th Anniversary in September, by introducing a special Anniversary Edition in a new Luxe Eau de Parfum Spray. 

It's hard to believe it's been 10 years since Lovely had launched back in 2005. Years ago when I was in my friend Doris' wedding, she had chosen Lovely as the bridesmaid gift, and it's been a favorite ever since. 

Lovely has top notes of soft citruses (nectarine and bergamot) and woody (rosewood) notes, with a touch of lavender. The fragrance opens further with notes of apple martini, white daffodil and orchid. The base unites white amber, cedar, woody notes and white musk. 

The limited edition bottle, which has Sarah Jessica Parker's signature with love & kisses, is still available at kohls.com. The limited edition bottle portrays the romantic style of vintage perfume bottles with a modern twist, in a champagne pink, metallized finish topped with a regal gold cap. The limited edition fragrance is available as a 3.4 oz Eau de Parfum, retailing for $68.

Jane by Design Style Challenge #2: Fashion Icon

For the Jane by Design Style Challenge #2, I had to design a plain, white t-shirt* inspired by my favorite fashion icon, using items around the house or office.

I chose Sarah Jessica Parker as my fashion icon. She brings my favorite character, Carrie Bradshaw to life with amazing fashion sense and style. At 5'3", she's petite like me, and loves to change up her style from classic to glamorous to funky. Must I even mention shoes? If it's anyone's shoe wardrobe I wish I had, it's hers. Sarah has been one of my favorite actresses since I was about 10 years old, when I first watched the movie, Girls Just Want To Have Fun. Her fragrance, Lovely, has also been one of my favorites for years.

In creating my t-shirt design, I included her tagline from her Bitten collection, "Fashion is not a luxury" and included her initials, SJP. I incorporated details that she wears, from feathers and sequins to rhinestones for that feminine and glamorous look. I'm not so great at drawing, so coming from the underwear industry I decided to construct a bandeau top to layer over the t-shirt. I have this favorite Jean Paul Gaultier outfit - a bandeau top under a printed mesh dress, so I had taken inspiration from that as well.

At first I was thinking of simplifying the t-shirt without the lettering on the bandeau or the tagline, as it would also look more wearable, but for the purpose of this challenge I wanted it to be apparent who my icon was.

Here are the household items I used for this challenge:

- leftover mesh lining taken from a Tracy Reese dress - used for bandeau

- black bra straps

- black bra band for under the bust

- rhinestones from a bracelet used at scoopneck

- sequins and hearts from an old jersey top (the jersey originally said 'Love' in sequins and I transformed the letters to SJP')

- seam binding ribbon to make bra strap tabs

- glue gun

- double sided tape

- black fabric marker* to write the tag line "Fashion is not a luxury"

- medium size binder clip to clip onto the back of the t-shirt, for a more fitted appearance
