Shopping Haul and Recap: Gilt City Warehouse Sale Press Preview - April 2016

Elizabeth and James Britton Silk Wrap Top
MSRP: $285.00
Sale Price: $59.00

During press preview night on April 8th at the Gilt City Warehouse Sale, I snagged some amazing finds under $100, even though there seemed to be a pricier selection of clothing items this time around. There was also an additional 20% off all Red, Green, Beige, Lavender and Pink price tags.

A few years back the Gilt sale used to be very exclusive on VIP night, but now they have opened up the press preview as a ticketed event, making it seem more like a public shopping night. So if you plan on going to the next Gilt sale, I recommend getting there ahead of time, to make sure you are one of the first ones through the door. I did like the new coat check system, though. You no longer have to worry about losing your coat check ticket. When you check in your coat, the ticket number/confirmation is automatically sent to your phone. It's a great feature as long as you keep it charged and running, and don't lose your phone.

Recap: VIP Gilt City Warehouse Sale - October 2015

Opening Ceremony Zipper Split Flare Knit Dress
MSRP: $475
Sale Price: $65

Last night I attended the annual fall VIP Gilt City Warehouse Sale at the Metropolitan Pavilion. To help get guests in the shopping mood were cocktails by Skinnygirl, refreshments from Argo Tea and Balance Water, Justin's snack packs and Pretzel Crisps Minis.

So this is the one sale where I never leave empty handed. At some previous sales there had been additional discounts depending on what color the Gilt City price tags were. This time there were no additional discounts but you really didn't need them. The sale prices were phenomenal! I don't remember the pricing ever being this low! It seems like everything I picked up was either $35, $39 or $55. There were a lot of pieces from certain brands, especially Opening Ceremony and JBrand. I was also looking for blazers and shoes,  but overall I got some great additions to my wardrobe.

I love sharing my recaps off my shopping hauls, so take a look what I ended up getting. Aside from dresses, separates and bags, I also picked up some bodyshapers. Total retail value of everything I got added up to $2,675 and I actually spent $425! I'd say that's a pretty good night of shopping and it's not even sample sale season yet!

Recap: VIP Gilt City Warehouse Sale - April 2015

On Friday, April 24th, I attended the anticipated Gilt City Warehouse Sale held at Metropolitan West at 639 West 46th Street. Shoppers enjoyed 80% off retail while sipping on Ruby Red Citrus and Pineapple Mandarin Orange Palm Breeze sparkling spritzes, La Marca Prosecco and Darkhorse wines in Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Red Blend and Cabernet. Icelandic Glacial natural spring water, In/Fusion iced herbal tea in Peach - Vervaine - Lemon and Pomegranate - Blackcurrant - Blackcurrant leaf - Peppermint as well as Crazy Hot Potato popchips were also complimentary to attendees.

During the sale, I stopped by to visit with ZYRTEC® Brand celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg, as she shared spring-inspired tips and makeup looks to combat ALLERGY FACE® beauty challenges. For my makeup look, I went with 'gilted glamour'.

With Jamie Greenberg

Here are tips to get the 'gilted glamour' look:

Eyes: Apply a gold shadow all over the top eyelid and use black shadow in the corners to achieve a smoky effect. For darker skin tones, blend a reddish hue with the gold to create a shimmery look. Apply black waterproof eyeliner on the top eyelid and brown on the bottom, just to define the eyes. Finish with black waterproof mascara. If possible opt for fake lashes to provide a bolder, more dramatic nighttime look.

Skin: When applying foundation, be sure to fully cover the face so it lasts throughout the day. Also pay special attention to color-correcting any uneven skin tones due to ALLERGY FACE® beauty challenges, using green or yellow-tinted concealers that help cancel out redness.

Brows: Fill in brows for a full look which will help frame your face, and distract from watery eyes and puffiness.

Cheeks: Lightly contour the face using bronze and pinkish-nude cheek colors; contouring is the perfect tool for counteracting the appearance of puffiness due to allergies.

Lips: Choose a pink or nude lip stain. For darker complexions, choose a gloss with glitter instead, to tie the look together and stand out.

Once I was set with my makeup look, I was ready to shop! Check out the images below from my shopping haul. This new venue for the sale was definitely more spacious and had a welcoming layout for guests to approach sponsored brands. Since the VIP Night was changed to a ticketed event, it was quite the line to get into the sale. I suggest making sure you get to the next sale as early as possible. But one thing is for sure, I never leave empty-handed!

Shopping Haul and Recap: VIP Gilt City Warehouse Sale - May 2014

The Gilt City New York Warehouse Sale was back this weekend, with a kickoff VIP shopping party last night at The Altman Building.

Guests enjoyed a night of shopping with up to 90 percent off retail on clothing, shoes, accessories and home decor. The 2-hour shopping event included complimentary signature cocktails from New Amsterdam Vodka and a selection of Dark Horse wines, sparkling water from Perrier, chilled espresso beverages from Illy Issimo, KIND Bars, Farmer's Crate Mango Thins, Mini Makeuppers and brow waxing by Benefit Cosmetics, Costume-style jewelry by greenbeads by Emily & Ashley available for purchase and Music by DJ Jow Lopez of SounDecisions.

There were a few notable changes this time around, like upon entering we were handed a card that listed further color coded discounts for an additional 10-40% off. We also received a tote to put all items in, which is so much better then having to carry everything around. Also, I noticed that the racks were organized by dresses, tops and pants, making it easier to sort through merchandise. I did, however, notice that there were more irregular and damaged merchandise and unfortunately there was a lack of size 5 shoes.

None of the items I purchased had the additional % off, but I did get a few noteworthy pieces at great prices, including a Boy by Band of Outsiders Macrame Crewneck Pullover for $79 (MSRP: $535), Design History V-Neck for $45 (MSRP: $127.60), Yummie Tummie Angela Micro Slip for $9 (MSRP: $68) and Marc by Marc Jacobs iPad cases for $5 each (MSRP: $42).
