Amundsen Sports NYC Pop Up Shop

Norwegian performance brand Amundsen Sports, known for there heritage-inspired apparel and footwear is hosting a pop up in NYC through the end of this year at the Westerlind store, located at 29 Spring Street.

At the pop up opening, I met with industrial designer Jorgen Amundsen, who co-founded Amundsen Sports in 2009 with Norwegian explorer and skier Erik Friis. Jorgen is a relative of Roald Amundsen, who set out to explore the South Pole in 1911, and lived with the Inuits to study their knowledge of cold weather survival and also explored cutting edge technology.

Amundsen Sports is best known for the technical knickerbocker, combining traditional ski wear with modern materials and functionality. Amundsen Sports is focused on building a sustainable, contemporary wardrobe, using natural materials such as wool, corduroy and cotton.

American Eagle Outfitters / Aerie Post-Holiday Sales

The holiday collection at American Eagle Outfitters and Aerie is always my favorite of seasons to shop. I often find myself shopping for gifts online and in-store (and for me) before the holidays and then right after Christmas for the end-of-the-year sales / clearance. This holiday season's selection is so good, I have products in my cart as I'm blogging about this.

Some things that I have already picked up this season include the dark grey pom-tastic snood and matching beanie, both with removable poms, cozy fleece jumper, and plush joggers which I have in both charcoal and dark heather. I also plan on getting some necklaces, a velvet cami, mesh crop top, boyshorts (available online only), and extra poms so I can switch out the colors on my snood and beanie. The Aerie pieces are so plush and cozy, you'll want to wear loungewear all winter long.

Aside from what I'm getting, this season you'll also find camo, plaid, tunic hoodies, sweatshirts, velvet pajamas and pom throw blankets on sale. The most impressive selection to me is the denim, as I get all my jeans at American Eagle as the fit and distressed detailing is above quality. The fit is consistent, and I love how they have a short length available so I don't have to get my jeans hemmed.

The Atelier & Repairs x AE pieces aren't on sale but you'll definitely want to check out these denim jackets, overshirts, skirts and jeans. These special pieces are made with repurposed American Eagle fabric and clothing, with distressed rips and repairs. They are personalized and finished by hand with one-of-a-kind treatments, making them unique.

Recap: Nordstrom Fall Beauty Trend Show 2017 at Garden State Plaza

On Saturday, November 4th, I attended my very first Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show at Garden State Plaza in NJ. The Fall Beauty Trend Show was hosted by Nordstrom Beauty Director, Derek Miller.

Beauty Trends Fall 2017 included Trending Techniques, Soft & Smoky, and Red & Shine. For Trending Techniques, guests learned about application and styling tips from the pros and how innovative beauty tools make it all easy. Brands featured correct & perfect with Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown, Kiehl's Since 1851, NuFace, Trish McEvoy, MAC, Drybar and Nest Fragrances

Soft & Smoky discussed blending natural-colored shadows outside the lines for an elegant take on the traditional smoky eye. This segment of the show had a spotlight on Hermès, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare, Clarins, Lancôme, Philosophy, Yves Saint Laurent and Tom Ford.

Red & Shine takes a festive feel with a classic red lip with a glossy finish for that party-ready look featuring Dior, Kate Somerville, Atelier Cologne, Charlotte Tilbury, Jo Malone London, Giorgio Armani, Estée Lauder, PMD and Nars.

Throughout the show, guests won fabulous gifts sets and products being showcased. I myself won the PMD Kiss Lip Plumping System, right before I was about to try it out on my lips! After the show, the beauty event continued with complimentary mini facials, hair styling, and makeovers. It was a perfect time to get ahead start on holiday shopping and buy a few gifts for yourself! Check out the video with highlights from the show!
