VU Hair Salon at The Peninsula New York

I recently had my first visit to VU Hair salon, at the Peninsula Hotel in New York, for a quick styling session. I had been on a plane all day, so my hair went from incredibly flat to beautifully styled in a matter of minutes thanks to Danny! As tired as I was from my flight, I felt a million times better with the voluminous curls in my hair. I was amazed at how full and shiny my hair looked, and that was just from a dry styling session!

I also met with the VU Hair team, including salon owner Vu Nguyen, and Amy Mrkulic, who just joined the VU Hair team. I would love to visit VU Hair again for a color / cut and drastically change my hair color for spring! The salon also offers makeup and nail services, with Zorina Czora as Makeup Artist/Bridal Specialist.

VU Hair also has the most amazing penthouse view of the city to enjoy while you get your hair styled!

Getting Gorgeous at Angelo David Salon during NYFW

During New York Fashion Week last month, I got gorgeous at the Angelo David Salon, located on the 2nd floor of 420 Madison Avenue, between 48th and 49th Streets. To get ready for my evening of fashion shows, I got glammed up with a complimentary blowout, manicure and makeup session. After applying shampoo and conditioner, I decided to have my hair styled with loose waves, then a manicure using Morgan Taylor's "Paris With Love," a burgundy color and a cat eye and burgundy lip for my makeup look.

The best part about getting your services done at Angelo David Salon is that you can have multiple services done at the same time! My hair and nails were being done simultaneously, and my makeup touchup was applied while my nails were drying. I was worried about timing and it was no worry at all! I was done in about an hour!

I received so many compliments on my look, as I finished up my last day of fashion week with Zang Toi backstage, Miguel Vieira's show, followed by Marcel Ostertag. Thanks to the Angelo David Salon team for getting me glammed up this season!

Mauricio Hair Studio Privato

Last Friday, I visited Mauricio Hair Studio Privato for a conditioning treatment, haircut and blow out. The three-chair salon is located at 210 Fifth Avenue, Suite 1102, between 25th and 26th Streets. The Flatiron studio opened  a year ago, and also offers nail services and makeup application.

The salon uses 100%  all-natural organic hair care including products from Intelligent Nutrients PureLuxe, Harmonic and Certified Organic collections and rahua. The atmosphere is intimate and zen-like and the experience feels really personalized since all the attention is on you. There are no distractions, no stress - just time to relax and get your hair cut and styled without feeling rushed.

Wendy shampooed my hair with Intelligent Ingredients PureLuxe harmonic shampoo, which had a minty aromatherapy scent. Even hours later my hair still smelled and felt minty fresh. I think I'm hooked on this shampoo! rahua conditioner was used on my hair as a leave-in, deep conditioning treatment for 15 minutes under the dryer. Mauricio gave me a fabulous cut and style, adding in some layers for volume and shape.

Mauricio Cifuentes has been a fashion and editorial hairstylist for over 10 years and has successfully created Mauricio Hair Studio Privato as an alternative to your everyday, commercial salon. Mauricio also makes jewelry in his spare time and sells the gorgeous pieces at his studio, sourcing emeralds from Colombia, and other stones from South America and Asia.

Glamour and Paul Mitchell Event Hosted by Fashionably Petite

As a Glamour Glambassador, I hosted an event sponsored by Glamour and Paul Mitchell at Salon CARU at 104 Hudson Street in Hoboken on Wednesday, October 17th. Bloggers and friends enjoyed complimentary blow-outs and hors d'oeuvres. The event featured the two newest Paul Mitchell collections - Curls and Blonde.

The entire staff at CARU was incredibly friendly and really made us feel welcomed. I've often felt rushed at many of the salons I've been to but the CARU stylists really took their time with us. Thank you to Denis for an amazing mini scalp massage treatment. I was surprised when he told me he used Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner on my hair. Apparently it's not just for blondes and keeps hair hydrated and healthy! Thank you to my stylist Amanda who gave me some natural waves while building up texture in my hair with Paul Mitchell products. Even though I don't have naturally curly hair, I can still use Paul Mitchell Curls Twirl Around or Ultimate Wave products as styling aids. Twirl around is a two-part styler smoothing gel and hydrating cream helping to create curls without leaving a hard, crunchy feel. Ultimate Wave cream-gel adds texture for a beachy hair look.

CARU really caters to its clients, offering validated parking for two hours and is open until 10pm on Tues-Friday.  Nice to know I'm not limited to lunchtime or the weekend to book a hair appointment and coming from the city, it's just a five-minute walk from the Hoboken PATH train. I also love the uniqueness of CARU, from the blow dryers extending from the ceiling to the inspiring blow-out menu listed on the wall.

Many thanks to the owner of CARU, Colin Caruso and his styling team for having us, and a big thank you to Glamour and Paul Mitchell for having me host the event. Thank you to all my guests who attended!

Everyone loved their gift bags. How cute are these totes! CARU also sent us home with mystery gift cards to use toward our next visit and a punch card to receive a free blow-out after trying each style on the blow-out menu
