PORTALS, A Photo Experience by Canon in NYC

Canon is hosting PORTALS, a pop-up photo experience in NYC that ends this Sunday, November 18th, and then heads to Los Angeles. The 11-day pop-up is built around photo moments that transports visitors to an entirely new world by embedding camera tips and tricks into the consumer journey. It's made up of five unique photography setups, allowing both amateur and experienced photographers to create exciting, instagrammable photos. This pop-up experience allows guests to shoot with and get familiar with the features of Canon cameras.

Check out the PORTALS website at CanonPORTALS.com for information on the photo walks and educational workshops that Canon is hosting. You can also check out the #CanonPORTALS hashtag to see what other attendees are sharing.

Switch to a wide aperture lens to adjust depth of field and open a portal of focus

Portal of New Perspectives
Used the flip screen of the Canon camera, laid the camera down, and used my phone to actually take the shot

Portal of Reflection
Offers a more thoughtful, pensive, sometimes surreal perspective. This shot uses the flip screen of the Canon camera

Portal of Light
Used the low-light and long exposure features of the Canon camera to open up a portal of light.

Since the company I work for full time manufactures rugs,
this flying rug experience was a fun one to shoot!

United Nude Sample Sale Pop Up - Closing 4/9/17

United Nude Sample Sale Pop Up
40 Prince Street
10012, New York

Closing date:

Sunday, April 9th
12-4PM

I've been meaning to stop over at the United Nude Pop Up for months, and when I finally get there I find out they are closing the pop up permanently! They are moving United Nude online only so that sadly means no more NYC location and no more future sample sales!

United Nude was always one of my favorite sample sales and my go-to shoe brand, especially since I could always find a fitting size 35 there. I own more United Nude shoes then any other brand in my shoedrobe. So knowing they were closing permanently, I had to splurge one last time!

Check out the price list and the five pairs of shoes I got at the sale. Everything I got was $45 each. With a total value of $1,330, I got about 84% off my purchase! There's still a variety of sizes left at the sale. There were several pairs I would have loved but they either didn't have my size left or the size 35 was still too big. I definitely recommend stopping in before they close! They still have a variety of styles and sizes available.

Elizabeth Arden Flatiron Pop Up

In between the J. Crew and Helmut Lang sample sales today, I stopped over at the Elizabeth Arden pop up at Madison Square Park - Pedestrian Plaza (Broadway & East 23rd Street) and indulged in a hand massage in the Recharge Room. Elizabeth Arden Global Makeup Artist Rebecca Restrepo glammed up guests with customized makeovers, followed by professionally styled pictures taken by Nigel Barker between 1-3pm. I didn't have time for the makeover, but I was sure to say hi to Nigel and have him take my photo. He's such an amazing photographer, I couldn't pass up the photo opportunity - makeup or no makeup!

The Elizabeth Arden Recharge Machine also dispensed free pods filled with signature Baked by Melissa red velvet cupcakes with chances to win "red ticket" items including Red Door Spa gift certificates, Elizabeth Arden products and red-bottomed Christian Louboutin heels. The pop up was open for this weekend only, on December 1st and 2nd.
