iPhone and iPad Tech Accessories for the New Year

Start off the new year with fashionable tech accessories for your iPhone and iPad. The Kavaj "Dallas" Cognac Case (available for iPhone 5 and 5S) is my favorite of leather phone cases. The genuine leather is super soft and thin and comes in cognac and black. This sleek wallet-style case with a microfiber-like flannel interior protects your phone from scratches or cracking your screen when you drop it. The slots in the back are perfect for storing small business cards and cash. Another amazing thing about this case? While other leather cases are in the $100 range, this one is priced at $29.90 at amazon.com.

The Magnetyze Protective Case for iPhone 5/5S ($59.99) magnetically charges your phone with the Magnetyze charging cable. This is a great way to charge up, especially since I've had issues with wear and tear on my phone's charge port and lightening to USB cables. The Magnetyze protective case is also compatible with other Magnetyze accessories including the external battery and desk, car and wall chargers so you can charge up at home, at the office or while traveling.

The Justin Case 11,600 mAh Portable Charger iPad Case doubles as a case and a charger, to keep your iPad, iPhone or other devices charged and ready to use while you're on the go. It's equipped with a built-in rechargeable battery, universal USB charging port and USB wall adapter. The synthetic leather case is lightweight and slim, making it easy to travel with. The Justin Case comes in a several colors, with red exclusively available at qvc.com for $69.96.

Must-Have iPad Accessory: iLuv Executive Slim Folio Cover

I got my first glimpse of the iLuv Executive slim folio cover with detachable bluetooth keyboard at CES in January, and knew that it was exactly what I needed for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this past February. The Executive is heavier than my ultrathin keyboard cover, so I bring it to the city on days where I do less running around or don't have too much to carry with me. It is also great for travel, as I'd rather bring my iPad and folio cover than my laptop. When I'm at home, I like to keep my iPad 4 in the Executive since I prefer to use a keyboard with my iPad, especially when working on emails or blog posts. It's both functionable and fashionable, making my iPad more accessible as a laptop. The folio cover and velvet interior also protect my iPad from scratches and scrapes.

In addition to the detachable keyboard, the iLuv Executive also has a magnetic closure to keep the iPad securely in place, scissor-type keypad for more responsive typing, dedicated keys for iPad-specific functions and long battery life that lasts up to 30 days on standby. It also comes equipped with a USB port for fast, convenient charging. The iLuv Executive is available at iluv.com for $79.99.

Speck iPhone, iPod and iPad Cases

As soon as Halloween is over, the focus is going to shift right to holiday shopping. iPhone and iPad cases from Speck are great gifts for the holidays. Speck's cases are stylish and inexpensive, and also include Blackberry, Nook, Kindle and Macbook cases and laptop bags.

Speck's fashionable color assortment includes everything from pink, purple and blue to houndstooth yellow and black & white or darkest tartan plaid.

Here are some of my Speck favorites
