The Makeup Show NYC 2016 Highlights

The Makeup Show NYC took place on May 1st and May 2nd, at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Here's a look at my favorite highlights from the show, including new makeup launches and brands I was introduced to. One of my favorites from the show is the TEMPTU Air, a cordless, handheld airbrush device, featuring Dani Fonseca for TEMPTU PRO for a TEMPTU PROpod: Redefine Airbrush seminar. 

I am also excited about TEMPTU's Airbrush 24-hour Root Touch-Up & Hair Color, offering long-wear airbrush temporary hair color.

I couldn't leave the show without getting this "Glass Manicure" pop-on manicure kit ($12 at the show, normally retailing for $16 at sephora.com) from Static Nails that look like shattered glass. They can be worn for 18 days straight or reapplied up to six separate times for shorter wears. The kit comes with 24 nails in 12 universal sizes, luxury nail pouch, non-damaging nail glue, file and buffer.

New Styling Tools from John Frieda® by Conair

John Frieda® by Conair Styling Tools have become my go-to for everyday styling products. My hair is naturally straight, but for extra shine and smoothness, I flat iron my hair with the John Frieda® Smooth & Shine Sleek Finish Flat Iron and when I feel like adding some curls I use the John Frieda Spiral Curls Curling Iron. I recently previewed the latest John Frieda® by Conair volumizing styling tools at Trapeze School New York. We watched performers on the flying trapeze and an individual aerial silks act, as their hair remained perfectly intact.

This hot air brush makes it easy to get frizz-free, full-bodied curls and waves. All you do is select your desired temperature, glide the brush through wet or dry hair and smooth away frizz and flyaways.

TIP: For beautiful full-bodied waves in half the time, divide damp hair into sections, then run the Salon Shape Hot Air Brush through the lengths, rotating at the ends. Hold hair in place for 5 to 10 seconds then release the repeat until your entire head is complete. For lasting style, finish with a light mist of holding spray.

John Frieda Styling Tools by Conair Holiday Event

On November 30th I stopped by the John Frieda by Conair holiday event at Bryant Park's Celsius Lounge. Conair hair stylists provided complimentary blowouts and hair styling, while Cuisinart provided snacks and hot beverages.

The event featured the unveiling of a one-of-a-kind eight-foot tall holiday tree adorned with John Frieda Styling Tools, custom decorated by Erin Gates, author of the wildly popular design blog, Elements of Style. After the event, all tools were donated to Safe Horizon to help support victims of domestic violence.

During the event I previewed the Spiral Curls heat styler (Model JFC11) by John Frieda, featuring exclusive ionic frizz-fighting technology and true ceramic heat with LCD temperature control. The Spiral Curls styler heats up in 30 seconds, with a temperature up to 400F/205C and has auto shut off.

For face-framing modern curls, be sure to roll sections inward. For a retro-fifties look, roll sections outwards and tousle with fingertips.
