Backstage at Erin Fetherston Spring 2017 at NYFW

Backstage at Erin Fetherston Spring 2017 at New York Fashion Week, I got the scoop from skyn ICELAND founder Sarah Kugelman on the new Plumping Lip Gels used to prep the models. The Plumping Lip Gels are a 10-minute, plumping gel patch designed to hydrate, plump and reduce lines around the lips all in one high-powered treatment. It's a safe and all-natural alternative to lip injections.

Glamsquad created the make-up and nail looks, which had a natural and organic, bohemian vibe. Davines created undone waves for the hair, with an effortless look of a second or third day blowout.

Backstage at Dennis Basso Fall/Winter 2016 at New York Fashion Week

Since I had to be at the office I was thankful that Michelle from LeHoarder was able to cover backstage beauty at Dennis Basso, with hair, nails and makeup by Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa.

The Hair Look:

Red Door Spa’s National Style Education Director, Tim Wandrey, created a minimal and clean hairstyle to balance the large fur collars and timeless style of Dennis Basso’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection. Hair is pulled into a loose ponytail for an overall sophisticated yet chic look.

Step-by-step

1. First, part hair in the center using Olivia Garden’s CarboSilk Tail Comb.

2. Next, apply Kérastase Volumifique to hair to help add volume and then blow dry hair section by section using Olivia Garden’s 2 ½ inch Healthy Hair Boar Bristle Brush.

3. Then, loosely pull hair back into a loose ponytail at the nape of the neck.

4. Finish, by tying a colored elastic around the hair and leave it visible for a DIY feel.

The Makeup Look:

Red Door Spa’s Creative Makeup Lead, Makeup Artist Buffy Hernandez, created a timeless, natural look with luminous skin.

Step-by-step

1. Start with a clean canvas and apply Elizabeth Arden’s Super Start to help improve skin’s appearance. Then prime the skin with Elizabeth Arden’s Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer to help smooth uneven texture and diminish the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles. Next moisturize the lips with Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream and blot off at end of makeup application so lips will be left hydrated.

2. Then, apply a light coverage foundation to skin such as Elizabeth Arden’s Visible Difference BB Cream or Elizabeth Arden’s Flawless Finish Foundation. To help conceal dark circles and imperfections, apply Elizabeth Arden Correcting Highlighter for a brightening effect.

3. Apply Elizabeth Arden’s Sponge-On Cream Makeup underneath the cheek bones in a deeper tone to get a contoured look. For an added glow, use a sponge to apply Sunkissed Pearls Bronzer and Highlighter to highlight the cheek bones.

4. To create an illuminating glow above the cheek bones; mix together Elizabeth Arden’s Skin Illuminating Smooth and Brighten Emulsion with Elizabeth Arden’s Crystal Clear Lip Gloss and apply directly above the cheek, fading up and out.

5. Fill in eyebrows using Elizabeth Arden’s Beautiful Color Brow Shaper & Eye Liner for a dark and intense shape. Then, apply a clear brow gel in an upward motion to tame unruly hairs.

6. For eyes, first apply Elizabeth Arden’s Advanced Eye-Fix Primer and then lightly sweep a matte neutral eye shadow shade such as Elizabeth Arden’s Eye Shadow in Tempting Taupe across lids and to the bottom lash line.

7. Lastly, blot lips with a tissue and apply Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Translucent Powder to get a natural matte look.

The Nail Look:

Red Door Spa’s National Director for Nails, Adeline Sarino, buffed the nails leaving them clean and simple and used a dark nail color on toes to complement the rich textures of the collection. Using Essie’s Lady Godiva, follow the below steps to recreate the look at home.

Step-by-step

1. File nails into a rounded shape, and apply CND Cuticle Away.

2. Lightly buff the nails, then gently remove any loose cuticle.

3. For dry cuticles, apply CND Solar Oil for added hydration.

4. For toes, file nails into a rounded shape, and apply CND Cuticle Away.

5. Dehydrate the toe nail plates with acetone, which prevents polish from chipping.

6. Then apply 2 coats of Essie’s Lady Godiva.

7. Apply Essie’s Good2Go Top Coat to add shine.

Backstage at Zang Toi Fall/Winter 2016 at New York Fashion Week

Backstage at Zang Toi Fall/Winter 2016 at New York Fashion Week, Lead Stylist for Macadamia Professional, Eiji Yamane created The Courchevel Chignon for the show. This hairstyle features a classic Hollywood glamour in the front with loose chignons in the back.

Learn more about The Courchevel Chignon as the Macadamia Professional team takes us through hair prep.

The Courchevel Chignon Step-by-Step:

1. Evenly distribute Macadamia Professional Blow Dry Lotion, section hair and blow dry.

2. Part hair over the right eye and curl front left section of hair with a large curling iron to create loose waves. Spray with Macadamia Professional Style Lock Strong Hold Hairspray and pin back taking care not to cause a crimp or mark with your pin. Run curling iron through the right side creating slight bend and clip back.

3. Take remaining hair and pull back into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. Using a curling iron, curl the entire section at once to give slight softness and movement.

4. Separate ponytail into three sections. Take the left section and curling up; create a large loop, hiding the ends inside the newly defined bun. Secure with bobby pins and spray with Macadamia Professional Style Lock Strong Hold Hairspray to lock in place.

5. Repeat step 4 with the middle and right sections of the ponytail to create a triple chignon.

6. Remove clips from the front right section and loosely pull hair back along the side of the head, creating a light wave above the ear. Tuck the ends behind the chignon and secure in place with pins. Spray with Macadamia Professional Style Lock Strong Hold Hairspray.

7. While holding hair in place with your hand, remove clips from the front left section and create dramatic waves cascading along the side of the head. Spray with Macadamia Professional Style Lock Strong Hold Hairspray hold waves in place and then tuck the ends behind the chignon and secure in place with pins.

8. To complete the look, liberally spray Macadamia Professional Weightless Moisture Dry Oil Micro Mist for added shine and luster.

Beautybyrudy for Ubati created the makeup look for the show, featuring a Courchevel Chic lipstick by Ubati for a bold red lip.

Zoya Nail Polish created the nail look for the show, prepping the manicure with Naked Base, two coats of Imogen and Naked Manicure Glossy Seal for a high-shine finish.
