Ports 1961 Fall 2010

Oh Ports, the tents, the drama!! OMG
Arriving at the tents right on time, I got my seating ticket pretty quickly. If you are at all familiar with the Ports 1961 drama then you may have been expecting to see a catfight. Thankfully it went off without a hitch.
The overall theme seemed to be a blending of textures and fabrics. Harder fabrics mixed with soft and silkiness. The color palette ranged from soft beiges to deep greens and chocolate browns. I found the leather caps to die for as well as the gloves. Ports collaborated with Aehrenkranz, designer Anette Becker to create vintage-inspired leather racing and aviator caps. I will be on the look out for these! But I’m digressing. Let's get back to the clothes.

Models glided down the runway in jumpsuits, knit dresses and silks. I really loved this one amazing jacquard cape coat that flowed over a silk mulberry dress. Another piece I found striking was later in the collection. A tobacco sculpted dress that draped over the body made me squeal with delight. Upon leaving I peaked inside the little gift bag to find a little clay ceramic pot for a small plant. Eco-friendly and stylish! All in all Ports 1961 was pretty darn fabulous. I know I’d be attending their next sample sale.

Ports 1961 Spring 2010

Tia Cibani of Ports 1961 draws inspiration from the ephemeral beauty of nature for Spring 2010. Linear and lean silhouettes are cinched with wide belts, including transparent materials to highlight the waist. Vinyl necklaces are organic and futuristic. Organza ballet flats, molded pumps and suede sandals add to a modern look.
The palette is comprised of tints such as Conch, Dawn and Oyster, with softer pastels of Bloom, Talc, Oasis, neutrals Buff and Cloud, cool tones of Dew and Moss, and dramatic accents of Shadow, Nest and Eclipse.
Favorite looks include the Conch draped bandeau dress with Talc obi belt and Cherry stingray pump, Bloom Kimono dress with Aluminum lamé ribbon & vinyl belt and Eclipse Geta sandal, Talc asymmetric draped dress and Eclipse Geta sandal, Oasis sculpted dress with Buff Bamboo obi belt and Oasis stingray Geta pump and Nest duchesse bandeau dress with Talc obi belt and Eclipse stingray Geta pump.
