Nicholas K Spring / Summer 2017 collection titled "Wadi Rum" is inspired by the 2014 movie "Theeb," portraying the life of Bedouin culture in the mystic Wadi Rum. A place of narrow canyons, towering plateaus and dusty palette of nudes pays homage to its nickname "The Valley of the Moon." Sustainability continues to be the source of inspiration and design, using artisan woven fabrics, organic cottons, vegetable dyed leathers and alpaca-linen blends.
There are lightweight and airy pieces in long, loose fitting silhouettes, draping, layering and wrapped and knotted details. Nicholas K does leather so well, so the leather jackets and bags are easily my favorite pieces. Jewelry is by Lisa Linhardt. The horsetail pony was created by Giannandrea for Macadamia Professional, makeup by Sarah Lucero for Stila and nails by Miss Pop for NCLA. Check out my backstage coverage on hair, makeup and nails.
