Zadig & Voltaire Sample Sale

Last month I joined Zyrtec and Celebrity Makeup Artist  Jamie Greenberg at the ALLERGY FACE™ Beauty Counter at the Macy's Flower Show for a one-on-one beauty makeover. Jamie took me through spring-inspired "looks" and tips and tricks to combat allergy-related beauty challenges like water eyes and a red nose.

For my beauty makeover, I went with the "Nighttime Statement" look. A smoky eye helps when you are having a puffy eye day. Since I wear contact lenses, my eyes may sometime get watery during allergy season, causing my eyeliner to run. Jamie recommends using a waterproof eyeliner, applying it close to the lashes and setting it with eye shadow. Products used for my "Nighttime Statement" look include:

Skin: Benefit Cosmetics fakeup medium #2
Brows: Benefit Cosmetics gimme brow medium/deep
Eyes: Benefit Cosmetics Big Beautiful Eyes Kit /
BADgal liner waterproof - black
Cheeks: Benefit Cosmetics Hervana
Lips: Benefit Cosmetics hoola ultra plush

Click on these additional spring-inspired "looks" for step-by-step tips on how to create them. The "fresh-faced & fabulous" look will help with redness of the nose.

The "red carpet ready" look is inspired by actress and long-time allergy sufferer, Debra Messing. This look is for those whose allergy-related beauty challenge is a red nose. This look will play down redness by enhancing your eyes and using a makeup highlighter on your skin.

This "cat eye chic" look is a timeless classic that allows you to focus on making a statement with your eyes.

Try the "barest beauty" look for color correcting redness and contouring your face.

If you suffer from watery eyes, the "hollywood siren" look allows for less makeup on the eyes and draws focus to a bold, red lip coupled with a contoured face.

Illamasqua Spring 2014 Glamore Collection

One of my favorite collections to launch this spring is Illamasqua's Glamore Collection! Last month I stopped over at Bloomingdale's 59th Street and met with Illamasqua's International Trainer Artist Ross Andrewartha to preview the new Satin Finish Glamore Lipstick ($26) and Shattered Star Nails ($17).

I'm ecstatic over these new lipsticks in vibrant shades of Soaked (vibrant orange), Glissade (bold pink) and Luster (candy pink). These colour intense lipsticks have a long lasting satin finish formula, keeping your lips hydrated and moisturized. Glissade is my go-to shade this season and it stays on all day long!

Shattered Star Nails features three shattered shades of Trilliant (champagne), Marquise (orange) and Fire Rose (pink) in a multi-dimensional glitter finish.

Ross also introduced me to the Eye Brow Cake and Angled Brush for sharpening brows and framing the face. This can be applied dry for soft definition or mixed with water for a sharp shape.

Illamasqua's must-have products for a flawless base include Hydra Veil ($48) to prime, Skin Base Lift ($24) for lifting and illuminating and Skin Base Foundation ($42) for perfecting. Hydra Veil has a rehydrating gel formula for a long-lasting, radiant finish. Skin Base Lift brightening concealer is available in 6 shades, infused with warm peach tones to flatter every skin tone. It blends easily, corrects uneven pigmentation and lifts the eye area. For an added brightening effect, custom mix your shade with Skin base Lift in White Light. Skin Base Foundation smoothes and softens and is easily blendable.

You can find Illamasqua at, and

Review: April 2014 Women's PijonBox: Kick Up Your Spring Fashion

Attention college students! There's now a subscription box available just for you! PijonBox is a curated monthly box starting at $23 per month (pricing varies based on how many boxes you subscribe to). All you do is pick a female, male or gender-neutral box and you'll start receiving your monthly care packages filled with delicious and healthy snacks, health and beauty supplies, household essentials and fun gifts to get you through each semester.

I was excited to experience PijonBox for myself, with the arrival of my April box. My curated box included 3 pairs of Bombas Socks, Nectar Sunglasses, Nature's Bakery Fig Bars in Raspberry and Blueberry and La Fresh Travel-Lite Antibacterial Wipes.

The box included one pair of Bombas Calf Socks ($9) and two pairs of Ankle Socks ($9). These socks are soft and comfortable! The calf socks are perfect for just lounging around but also would be great boot socks. I'll definitely be using the ankle socks for jogging, especially since these socks in grey/black/blue match a lot of my activewear!

You can never have too many pairs of sunglasses, and I gladly welcome another pair! Since I'm always busy blogging late-night, wearing sunnies helps hide my lack of sleep. Any college student will appreciate the dark, mirrored lenses on these Nectar Sunglasses ($20) to alleviate those morning hangovers!

The Nature's Bakery Fig Bars ($3, two bars per pack) in Raspberry and Blueberry are great on-the-go energy-boosting snacks I'll be throwing in my purse for days when I don't have time to eat in between meetings. These snacks are also perfect for keeping you awake on road trips or supplying you with extra energy on the plane or train. These remind me of Fig Newtons, so if you like those, then you'll love these!

La Fresh Travel-Lite Antibacterial Wipes ($2.49) is another essential item for my purse! The pack comes with 8 wipes and keeps hands clean and healthy, killing 99.9% of germs with aloe and vitamin e. I feel like I always need one of these wipes the most after I hold onto a subway pole. Holding onto the pole always makes me feel icky, especially when people next to me start coughing or sneezing. I immediately think of the movie 'Contagion'!

Overall, I was really pleased with the contents of my PijonBox. It came with useful items I've never tried before, plus a product card of this month's themed box: Kick Up Your Spring Fashion! The best part of the six items I received is that they are all full-size products! Total retail of all the products in the April box is $55.49, so the value versus the subscription price is definitely there.

Pijon has partnered with Project Night Night, dedicating time and money to fund and create very special care packages for homeless and undeserved kids who need them to feel secure, cozy, ready to learn, and significant. Learn more at

I really wish a subscription box like PijonBox was around when I was in college! Lucky for me, my mom used to send me care packages from oranges to clothes and accessories. This also makes a great gift for all those upcoming high school graduates! You can give a PijonBox or sign up yourself at

I've been searching for the perfect leather moto jacket and thanks to Monika Chiang, I actually found one that fits perfectly! I've been wearing this jacket with everything, including dresses, skirts, cinched pants and jeans. The Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro is my new favorite ultrabook. Review: Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro

Having previously reviewed the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S, I already knew I was going to love the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro. One of my favorite features is the unique 360-Degree Flip-and-Fold Design, easily changing between the four different modes - Laptop, Stand, Tablet and Tent. The 13.3" QHD+ 3200 x1800 (versus 11.6 HD, 1366 x 768 on the IdeaPad Yoga 11S) IPS widescreen with 10-point multi-touch has the best display I've ever seen on an ultrabook. Whether I am catching up on the latest episode of The Vampire Diaries, editing video footage or pictures, the images are incredibly crisp and sharp.

This ultrabook also has great portability - 1.39 kg, 15.5 mm thin with a 9 hour battery life to get you through the whole day, versus the 1.4 kg, 17.2 mm thin, 6 hour battery on the IdeaPad Yoga 11S. Like the IdeaPad Yoga 11S, there are two USB ports and a 2-in-1 card reader. It also has up to 4th gen Intel® Core™ i7 processor with integrated Intel graphics,  up to 8GB DDR3L memory, up to 512 GB SDD storage and stereo speakers with Dolby® Home Theatre® for immersive sound.

Lenovo motion control allows you to browse and select files with simple hand gestures. This is perfect for navigating through recipes hands-free. With voice control technology, you can just speak to open programs and websites. The Yoga Picks custom software detects and recommends the most suitable apps for any given mode. Some of the preloaded apps include Phone Companion, Camera Man, Photo Touch, and Yoga Chef. Yoga Chef has some easy-to-follow recipes I definitely want to try, with vivid photos that make me instantly hungry.

All these enhancements and features are user-friendly and interesting to explore, but for the most part I've been using the Yoga 2 Pro for watching tv shows, blogging and editing photos and videos. My main laptop is currently a MacBook Air but I despise editing videos with iMovie. I still prefer Windows Movie Maker, so I feel like I'll always need a Windows-friendly ultrabook just for that reason. During February and March, the Yoga 2 Pro came in handy specifically for editing fashion week videos, uploading them to YouTube and downloading photos from my Nokia 1020 (which is incompatible with my MacBook). Since I do a lot of blogging late night, the backlit keyboard really helps. This function can be turned on and off by pressing the Fn key and space bar. The touch screen capability comes in handy as well. It's so much easier to swipe through pictures when deciding which ones to use and edit. Every now and then I'm reminded of how my MacBook isn't touchscreen when I tap the screen out of habit.

The Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro is available at with a list price starting at $1199.00.

Emmy Rossum Spring Manicure by butter LONDON

Looking for an amazing spring mani? Take note of Emmy Rossum’s latest butter LONDON manicure created by Global Colour Ambassador, Katie Jane Hughes.

Nail Look How To:

· Katie began by applying butter LONDON’s Nail Foundation Flawless Base Coat to hide and smooth tiny ridges and imperfections in the nail.

· Katie then used butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Cotton Buds to create a half-moon at the bottom of the nail, leaving the top half nude and giving the nail a “floating nail art” look.

· To finish the look and add dimension, Katie added a dot of butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Sprog to the middle of the white moon, followed by a dot of butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Union Jack Black.
