Rebecca Taylor Fall 2013

Fashion never sleeps, nor does fashion take a backseat to one of the biggest blizzards New York has seen in at least 3 years! Set in the heart of the Meatpacking District, Rebecca Taylor debuted her downtown styled Fall 2013 collection at Milk Studios! The bare cement floor and brick lined walls couldn't have been more appropriate to house the burgundy, midnight blue, peach and gray garments that adorned the faux-hawk chic models.

Rebecca Taylor's collection, inspired by David Bowie, really took precedent with conveying the British punk edge look, with sprinkling in a bit femininity ever so often. Biker jackets, deconstructed silk cargo pants, boxy cut sweatshirts, leather gloves and fur clad military coats held true to the recurring theme of british grunge chic, but when paired with ruffled skirts, floral prints, and lilac and peach pants the original theme morphed into something even more amazing; an edgy rocker chic woman who could effortlessly pair her light pieces to create an effortless look.

Although many of the colors and soft materials used throughout her Fall collection may have not been ideal, Rebecca Taylor completely hit the nail on the head of the woman who desires to soften her hard look ever so often.

Reem Acra Fall 2013

Reem Acra stunned the audience at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York with strong pieces in a palette of black and white with accents of red. Yes, the beaded pieces she is know for, came down the runway accompanied with pieces that were dominantly modern with accents of leather, goat hair, fur, fishnet, tulle, beading, wool and tweed. Sheathes, long column dresses, kimono-like coats, capes and full tulle dresses were all shown at the celebrity-packed show. Inspired by a recent trip to Japan and photographs by artist Daido Moriyama, the looks were modern, strong  and feminine.

Mathieu Mirano Fall 2013

One of my favorite collections for Fall 2013 is from Mathieu Mirano, featuring gorgeous fox furs and gowns in nude, black and metallics. A number of pieces stood out to me, including two nude tulle gowns - one with black chainmail embroidery and another with black neoprene embroidery, a nude felted wool coat with black chainmail covered fox fur detail, a multicolor sequin gown, wool dresses with draped chiffon panels, and pencil skirts in leather, multicolor sequins and meteorite embroidery. I love Mathieu Mirano's nude and black leather boots accented with a gold toe and nude leather pump with contrasting black toe.
