Barbie & Her Sisters in A Pony Tale DVD Launch + Barbie Inspired Ponytails from John Barrett Salon


On October 22nd, in celebration of the launch of Barbie & Her Sisters in A Pony Tale DVD, Barbie invited girls of all ages to "Pony Up" and receive a Barbie inspired ponytail by the well-known stylists from the John Barrett Salon. The fashionable playdate at Apple/FAO Schwartz Plaza (5th and E. 58th) included a sneak peek of the new DVD, Pony Tale-themed keepsakes, and exclusive Barbie ponytail accessories. 



Here are some ponytail hairstyling tips to re-create the looks:
"Tied & Tiara"
- Start by braiding at the crown, continue the same strand and tie off just below the ears
- Tie and secure with a clear elastic band
- Gather the remaining unbraided hair with your braided strand
- Grab a strand of hair from the finished ponytail and wrap around the elastic band and secure with bobby pins
- Apply hairspray for hold


"Braid in Manhattan"
- Gather hair into a side ponytail right below the right or left ear
- Secure with a clear elastic band
-Complete a three-strand braid and secure with an elastic band at the end
- Grab a strand of hair from the finished ponytail and wrap around the elastic band and secure with bobby pins
- Apply hairspray for hold


"The Malibu Wave"
- Gather hair into a side ponytail right below the right or left ear
- Secure with a clear plastic band
- Grab a strand of hair from the finished ponytail and wrap around the elastic band and secure with bobby pins
- Curl ponytail with a 1" iron
- Apply hairspray for hold


"Uptown Up-do"
- Gather hair into a high ponytail right at the crown, leaving a triangular piece of hair free just above the forehead
- Secure with a clear elastic band
- Grab a strand of hair from the finished ponytail and wrap around the elastic band
- Curl ends of the ponytail
- Curl the loose hair just above the forehead then backroll, pinning to secure to the head 
- Apply hairspray for hold


"Classic Pony Up"
- Tease at the crown for added lift at the crown of the head
- Gather hair into a ponytail 
- Secure with a clear plastic band
- Grab a strand of hair from the finished ponytail and wrap around the elastic band and secure with bobby pins
- Pull pieces away from the ponytail to frame face
- Apply hairspray for hold
